Praxair Rejects City's Proposed Site

Praxair has rejected the City's proposed site in Hazelwood. They claim the the "property and land surrounding it is contaminated with various materials related to the Manhattan Project and is on the US Environmental Protection Agency's National Priority list for clean-up".

The City has provided a letter in response to Praxair's claims from the Department of the Army, St. Louis District, Corps of Engineers that states that a recently conducted sampling and subsequent lab analysis have found that the area in question "contains no contamination above the remedial goals established in the North St. Louis County Sites Record of Decision." The City also contends that the area is not a Superfund site and believes that Praxair has not been truthful in its efforts for relocation.
